McDonald's Advised Employees Not To Eat Fast Food

From the McDonald's employee resource website, the workers received unexpected advice for a healthier diet.

The website warns them to avoid fast food meals like burgers, fries, and soda as it causes weight gain.

It said, “Fast foods are quick, reasonably priced, and readily available alternatives to home cooking,” one post on the McResource Line site says. “While convenient and economical for a busy lifestyle, fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt and may put people at risk for becoming overweight.”

However, McDonald's defended the McReport posts, saying it has been “taken entirely out of context.” “This website provides useful information from respected third-parties about many topics, among them health and wellness,” they told CNBC. “It also includes information from experts about healthy eating and making balanced choices. Floyd Mocks Pacquiao Anew

Floyd Mayweather Jr. continued to taunt Manny Pacquiao with another edited photo published on social media.

The photo image shows Floyd landing a big jab directly to the face of Manny inside the boxing ring.

The photo has a caption that says "...Now you’re telling me I got to eat Juan Marquez’s leftovers? Let me talk to the IRS about this.”  Obviously, Mayweather was talking about the knock-out defeat of Pacquiao to Juan Manuel Marquez as well as the tax woes that he's going through in the U.S. and in the Philippines.

Manny Pacquiao still mum with the tauntings of Mayweather but the fans of Manny criticized Floyd for coming out of the photo. Some fans commented from the previous taunting:

“You're a great fighter, but desperate for posting this. That what makes Pac a better man,” said Cindy Agcolicol Lacewell.

“But here's the problem doh Floyd is scared to fight him doh. So fighting washed up and old fighters and fight a real fight,” said Fard Abdullah.

“You're one cocky [expletive] i hope he knocks you off your high horse,” said Devin Black.

“Man ur all talk...if u wanted to fight the Man U would have fought him already. It's just excuse after excuse out of you. Step up to the plate...” said Pawel Sie.

So what do you think of this new taunting of Floyd?

The Hobbit Sequel Desolation of Smaug Did Not Attract More Viewers

An action packed The Hobbit : Desolation of Smaug racked up  $73.6 million in its opening weekend, lower than the first installment which earned $84.6 million in December 2012.  It did not attract more viewers even with  comical scenes from the dwarves and additional characters Tauriel and Legolas ( who were not in the original book by Tolkien ).

Purists have heavily criticized Peter Jackson's decision to add the two characters just to expand the story into a trilogy. Many has questioned New Line Cinema's  change of its original two-film plan.

For a devoted like me, I am still attracted to see these films even if it may appear the story is stretched. For many others, however, they became more selective and decided to pass.

What do you think of The Hobbit : Desolation of Smaug ? Was it a let down?

U.S. Box Office Update This Week:

1. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug -- $73.6 million
2. Frozen -- $22.2 million
3. A Madea Christmas -- $16.2 million
4. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire -- $13.2 million

Philippines' Swimming Gold Medal Turned to Bronze!

The Philippines' Team has celebrated the first Gold medal in the Swimming event of the 27th Southeast Asian Games last Thursday, however the jubilation didn't last long after a protest was raised by the Thai officials claiming that there was a false start happened during the race.

The Filipina swimmer, Jasmine Alkhaldi overcame and snatched the Gold medal from the two Singaporean competitors who have been dominating the race for the last decade. After the awarding ceremony, Thailand officials protested that there was a supposed false start and the Game officials upheld the protest and nullified and stripped the medals previously awarded. Instead a re-race has been set. The Philippines officials objected the decision and filed an appeal to the organizer's officials but it has fallen to deaf ears.

Unfortunately, in the re-swim that was held yesterday, Jasmine Alkhaldi just managed to settle for the Bronze in the 100m freestyle finals, ironically, the Thai swimmer bagged the Gold medal and Singaporean foe cheered the silver.

It was a sorry fate for the Team Philippines who has been struggling so far in the competition, the Nationals has now dropped in the 8th spot with only 3 golds, 5 silvers and 8 bronzes. It will get even worse if Laos will overtake the Philippines from the current standing as they already have collected 2 golds, 5 silvers and 14 bronzes.

For decades, the Philippines has dominated the SEA Games and the Nationals are always one of the top performers but from the recent competitions, its becoming sad that they are now being humiliated that even Laos is outperforming them.

Are we seeing a regression of the Philippine Nationals? or bad lucks are just going their way?

X Factor USA 2013 Semi Finals Showdown, "Best Show"

I'd have to agree with Simon Cowell, this is by far the best episode of X Factor USA Season 3. The songs and performances were incredible. We are down to four acts : Alex & Sierra, Restless Road, Jeff Gutt and Carlito Olivero. And even before the grand finale next week, it appears that we have a winner. Its Alex & Sierra. They just stood out.

The final four survivors performed three times. The first song was chosen by viewers. Second round was a competitive duet. Third song was chosen by each mentors. Some incredible performances earned standing ovation from the judges.

Carlito has obviously improved and gained more confidence in his performances. Jeff Gutt made a stirring rendition of "Hallelujah". It was heartfelt and sincere.

But the night just went to Alex & Sierra. They ended the night singing "Gravity by Sara Bareilles. The standing ovation from the judges was not enough, Kelly and Demi were in tears.

Kelly said "Sierra, you are such a flower, and I love watching women grow, and I love watching women blossom." Demi confessed "You guys sang it flawless. I'm not even kidding. That was so beautiful and captivating. I'm looking at stars. You never cease to amaze me. Simon praise " “I would like to just bottle the last 10 seconds of that song, Sierra, and have it for the rest of my life because it was perfection. Absolute perfection,”

Indeed. I am moved by it.

Who will make it to the X Factor grand finale ? Stay tuned for the results tomorrow.

Spectacular Opening Ceremony of 27th SEA Games in Naypyidaw Myanmar

Myanmar waited for 44 years and finally it witnessed a spectacular opening ceremony of 27th SEA Games in the country's new capital Naypyidaw. I enjoyed the extravagant fireworks display and impressive performances showcasing Myanmar's rich culture.

As is customary, the games were formally opened when an archer-warrior, riding a chariot, fired a blazing arrow to light a flame in a big cauldron. I noticed a flaw in the execution when the cauldron lit up even before the flaming arrow had left the warrior's bow. Well, that's expected. It's a live show.

I also noticed familiar concepts in staging and choreography to that of 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony. That is because China has provided technical assistance and financial aid of about $33 million.

Overall it was a great opening night. I love the giant 100m-wide LED screen showing wonderful visual effects.

Stay tuned as we cover the events and bring to you the excitement of 11 countries vying for over 1500 medals with  more than 400 gold medals up for grabs. Mingalabar! Welcome to Myanmar and let the games begin.

Uruguay Legalize Marijuana

Uruguay became the first country to legalize the use and trading of Marijuana drug, after the government-sponsored bill was passed and approved by the Senate with a vote of 16-13.

The approved bill will provide regulation on the cultivation, distribution and consumption of Marijuana. Uruguayan residents will now be able to buy the drug at a maximum of 40 grams each month from  licensed pharmacies but they have to be over 18 years of age and are registered on a government database that will monitor their monthly consumptions.

Further, the residents will now be able to grow six marijuana plants or 480 grams a year in their homes. The form smoking club can grow up to 99 plants per year.

Senator Lucia Topolansky has told Reuters,"We begin a new experience in April. It involves a big cultural change that focuses on public health and the fight against drug trafficking."

Marijuanas are expected to be available for the drug users in April.

President Jose Mujica has said, "We've given this market as a gift to the drug traffickers and that is more destructive socially than the drug itself, because it rots the whole of society."

This move by the Uruguay Government is to curtail the drug trafficking that is plaguing the country. However, critics are saying otherwise, they said "Competing with drug traffickers by offering marijuana at a lower price will just increase the market for a drug that has negative effects on public health."

Will the bill really solve  drug concerns in Uruguay or it will only create a more destructive immoral society?

Facebook Develops Sympathize Button As Alternative to Like Button

In an interview, Facebook's software engineer Dan Muriello reported that his colleague has created a Sympathize button that could be an alternative to the Like button for use in negative emotions like "sad" or "depressed". For instance, when someone has posted that a family member has passed away, sympathize would be a more appropriate reaction.

But we might have to wait a while before this feature will be available. Muriello said " A lot of people were very excited. But we made a decision that it was not exactly the right time to launch that product yet."

This is a great idea that Facebook should consider. I would even suggest that they add more buttons.

What do you think of this soon to be feature? If you were to suggest another button what would it be? Share with us.

Initial findings stated that the fiery crash may have been due to car malfunction ( mechanical failure and a possible steering fluid leak ).

Speed was a  likely factor in the accident. Although the place where the vehicle was found was a popular spot for street racing, eyewitnesses confirmed  they were traveling alone.

The complete investigation are due to be released soon. The coroner has announced that the autopsies of both bodies are now complete. And the findings could be disclosed today. Stay tuned for more updates.
