From the script of their conversation, Arnold got annoyed when the Attorney told him that he’s
not representing Ms. Napoles on the PDAF scam case. Mr. Clavio tried to pursue
his questions on the issue if Janet Napoles will attend the senate hearing but
Mr. Villamor reiterated calmly that they’re still waiting for the resolution of their petition for bail. At this point of time, Mr. Clavio has become impatient
and he told “Pasira ka ng araw
eh” and as they exchange words, the Attorney continued to be composed while Clavio
added a side comment to the lawyer “Tatawa-tawa ka pa!. At the end of their
conversation Clavio said , “Sana pala
hindi na namin kayo…salamat po, wala po akong nakuha sa inyo”.
This video
clip has gone viral since Tuesday and had garnered over 400,000 views. Most of
the viewers have cited their disappointment with Arnold Clavio’s unpleasant gesture.
Hinted with such reactions from many viewers, Arnold Clavio made an official
statement about the incident in their morning news program explaining and admitting
that he crossed the lines with his ethics as professional broadcast journalist.
He further explain that he only wanted to pursue the information for his
viewers. However, Mr. Clavio didn’t apologize for his unlikely demeanor but
asked for understanding instead.
Personally,
I sympathized with all the zealous viewers who are enraged of Arnold Clavio's demeanor in the
said interview segment. I’m left thinking of how media has gone too far in their quest
to provide credible news information with dignity, respect and most of all
trustworthiness.
