With a $200 million budget, the pressure is huge to ensure a box office hit. Some critics say its a lot better than Battleship. So the producers need not worry because Battleship earned over $300 million.
Musician Kanya West praised the film and remarked its not an ordinary robot movie Actually its not. You will see giant robots fight giant monsters. Its like Transformers meets Godzilla. Director Guillermo del Toro said its his tribute to Japan's kaiju movies.
The film features plenty of action with some wow moments. The pacing is fast enough.

In Pacific Rim, when legions of monstrous creatures, known as kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: Massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge.
