Michael Carter-Williams Outshines the Defending Champ!

Certainly, for basketball fanatics the Michael Carter-Williams name is unknown not until the last night’s game against Lebron James and his defending champion team Miami Heat.
In his debut game with the Philadelphia 76ers team, the Rookie from Syracuse didn’t look like a rookie. No one has expected that he will pour a monstrous rookie game of 22 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds and incredibly 9 steals. The number 11 pick from the recent NBA draft has a pair of dunk over Lebron James and key plays in the stretch that pulled the upset against the mighty Heat team.

This incredible feat from the rookie player has not been done for a long time. No player since 1985 in his debut game to score 22 points and 12 assists. Carter-Williams’ 9 steals are the most for any player in his first game in NBA history. And since 1985, there are only four players who had double/double in points and assists.

Carter-Williams said in a post-game interview, “It’s just an unbelievable moment, the team played great,”, “The crowd was awesome, I was excited. I’m just glad we came up with the win.”
From the other end of the court, the reigning NBA MVP Lebron James said on the rookie, ”I couldn’t think of a better way to start your NBA career”.

For those who have witnessed his debut game, some would ask, is he going to be a real thing? Or he just had a mere luck of shots and had a great one night?

From the records, any player who had a stellar night during their debut would become NBA stars if not  an all star. It may be true that it’s only one night but the 36 minutes he had played is something that any basketball follower will never forget.

Now, I can’t wait to watch his next game!
